Wiluna Mining Corporation Ltd bolsters board ahead of mining plan reset

Wiluna Mining Corporation Ltd (ASX:WMC, OTC:WMXCF) has appointed Rowan Johnston as interim non-executive chairman and Michael Monaghan as interim CEO, following the immediate resignation of executive chairman Milan Jerkovic.

The pair will be supported by interim COO Robert Ryan and a dedicated on-site team led by Jon Pluckhahn.

This new team will be responsible for redefining the mine plan to take advantage of the 5.5 million ounce gold resource reported from the Wiluna operations.

Wiluna controls over 1,600 square kilometers of the Yilgarn region in Western Australia’s northern goldfields.

Forward and upward

This change in management structure comes after a successful and well-supported fundraising as the company seeks to execute on its mining plan.

Acting Chairman Rowan Johnston said, “With the new flotation plant producing marketable concentrate and operating at above nameplate capacity and improved specifications, the metallurgy question has been answered. The gold is there, it can be mined and recovered.

“With most of the initial capital expenditure for the WilTails project already spent and its go-live currently scheduled for October 2022, we will have a new online revenue stream.

“Now we will focus on finalizing a realistic and executable mine plan over the next few months that will deliver a return to our shareholders, while focusing on cost management.

“This is reflected in the addition of Mike and Robert to the management team, both respected and experienced in the underground mining engineering field. And on behalf of the company and myself, I would like to to thank Milan for his tireless efforts, his conviction and his contribution to the company and wish him the best for the future.
