CRISIL Ltd Q1 PAT up 45.62% to Rs121.62cr on 80% growth in Research Services EBITDA

CRISIL Ltd recorded 20.14% year-on-year growth in total revenue for the quarter to March 22 on a consolidated basis at Rs594.94cr. On a sequential basis, revenue decreased for the quarter by -15.73% due to the impact of geopolitical risk.

Separately, sequentially, the corporate bond market fell sharply, leading to a sharp decline in research services revenue, although rating services revenue was not impacted sequentially. .

Revenues should improve to normalized levels as bond activity picks up.

Fourth quarter consolidated net profit increased by 45.62% to Rs121.62cr, while profit declined by -27.88% on a sequential basis.

Despite fixed revenues, operating profits increased by 10% on an annual basis. However, it was the 80% year-over-year growth in operating profits on search services that did the trick.

Sequential earnings came under pressure due to the impact of global tensions. Net margins were 20.44% in the March 22 quarter, compared to 16.87% in the March 21 quarter. Net profit margins were 344 basis points lower on a sequential basis, compared to the December 21 quarter.
